Sixteen year old pianist, Jenny Chen, will be presenting a program including works by Mozart (Sonata K. 333), Chopin (Scherzo No. 1) Debussy (“Estampes”) and Mozetich (Adagietto from “Three Pieces for Piano”). Jenny is the 2025 recipient of the Peggy Corkum/Musique Royale Legacy Award and the recent winner of the Atlantic Young Artist Competition.

Part of the Wednesdays at Noon series, Musique Royale features sixteen year old pianist, Jenny Chen, on Wednesday August 19 at 12 pm at St John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg. Jenny will perform works by Mozart (Sonata K. 333), Chopin (Scherzo No. 1) Debussy (“Estampes”) and Mozetich (Adagietto from “Three Pieces for Piano”). Jenny is the 2025 recipient of the Peggy Corkum/Musique Royale Legacy Award, administered by the Nova Scotia Talent Trust, and the recent winner of the Atlantic Young Artist Competition.

Wednesdays at Noon is a series of music presentations at St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg. Concerts are roughly 45 minutes in length and are held every Wednesday at 12 pm through July and August. Performances feature artists from the local and national scene in an eclectic mix of presentations. These performances will draw residents and tourists to enjoy music within beautiful and historic setting of St John’s, the second-oldest Anglican church in Canada, and first church established in Lunenburg. Admission is $10 at the door, youth free. Programming supports the St John’s Music Program.

About Jenny Chen

Halifax born classical pianist Jenny Chen started her piano study at the age of 5 and became a student of Professor Lynn Stodola since 2018. At age 11, Jenny won their concerto competition and appeared as the soloist with Chebucto Symphony Orchestra. Besides, Jenny has been the recipient of many awards including the Nova Scotia Talent Trust Scholarship (2020-2026), the Nova Scotia Registered Music Teacher Association Scholarship, the Halifax Ladies’ Musical Club Award (2021-2025), Young Artist Achievement Award and the Royal Conservatory of Music Gold Medal in Piano. With many accolades as a competitive pianist, Jenny constantly appears on the national stage representing Nova Scotia, including the CFMTA National Music Competition, the Federation of Canadian Music Festival National Completion (FCMT), the Canadian Music Competition.

Most recently, she earned the title of 2026 Atlantic Young Artist winning the prestigious Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations (CFMTA) Atlantic Young Artist Competition. Furthermore, Jenny took the opportunity to hone her skill in masterclasses with Andre Laplante, John Perry, Jane Coop, Stéphane Lemelin and Michael Angelucci etc.

When not playing piano, Jenny enjoys swimming, reading, watching movies and family hiking. She is also an avid and knowledgeable bird watcher as well as an excellent athlete playing lacrosse in the Nationals.
