About
Musique Royale welcomes the mesmerising sounds “Wild Spring” by Helios Vocal Ensemble, featuring music for unaccompanied vocal consort from England, France, and Italy. The sixteenth and seventeenth centuries have given us a bounty of beautifully expressive European vocal music, especially songs about attraction, love, and heartbreak. In this program, Helios’s five highly trained singers explore the deep emotions of this music, from sorrow to joy, from tears to laughter, all in beautiful harmony. Join us for our final Cookie Concert before summer break to hear beautiful a capella music at the Lunenburg School of the Arts on Saturday June 7 at 2pm. All ages are welcome, and kids are invited to sit in the front!
About the Artists
Helios Vocal Ensemble is Atlantic Canada’s premier vocal ensemble, performing sacred and secular music from the Renaissance and beyond. Founded in 2015, they have appeared in the region’s leading chamber music series, including the Under the Spire (formerly Indian River) Festival, Cecilia Concerts, the Three Churches Festival, Musique Royale, and the Music Room Chamber Players series, as well as several festivals in Québec. Their debut recording, An Illuminated Christmas, was nominated for Classical CD of the Year by Music Nova Scotia.
